“I was invited to dig through an electrical waste skip at a London recycling centre”

Thursday 19 May 2022 was an eye-opening day for our business, which ended with fuel for this not-so-subtle humble-brag. Our little computer shop was one of the dozen winners at the Which? Awards 2022, alongside other small businesses you may have heard of, such as LG and Samsung.

I mention this for three reasons. The first is that PC Pro is akin to Hansard, so I’m putting this on the historical record. The second is to thank you for the congratulations via Twitter. Alison and I are greatly moved. Finally, to highlight the watchword used throughout the ceremony: sustainability.

Exodus Travels won the Which? Sustainability Champion award and was praised by the judges for showing high levels of data transparency while trying to reduce its carbon footprint. As I mingled at the post-awards bash, I became aware that various brands didn’t possess Exodus’ vision of what sustainability looked like, with some definitions as thought through as “Brexit means Brexit”.
