MY BOY, by Marlon Williams

In a recent interview with Moana Maniapoto on Whakaata Māori’s Te Ao programme, singer-songwriter Marlon Williams observed, “All songwriting is posturing in a way. Acting, I guess.”

Given Williams, who was named for acting legend Marlon Brando, has had a parallel screen career – most recently in , and the Netflix series – he’s in a prime position to comment. He has also played roles in his music videos, notably in a comedic undercutting of his separation song .
