ADD LIGHTS TO A HORNBY CLASS 66
I can remember a time when the most realistic sound produced by a model locomotive was the rasp of a wheel brushing against a piece of sandpaper to represent a chuff when in motion. This area of the hobby has changed out of all recognition and has added realism for many of us. Sound implementations are getting increasingly sophisticated, too. Not only are the sounds improving in quality, but the level of customisation is far greater now with some of the newer sound decoders on the market. Instructions for customisation often extend to several sheets of A4, with detailed notes and many settings that can be changed without updating the decoder sound files.
The Hornby Class 66 is a basic model without lights, but it has advantages aside from its low price point. It is very easy to access the interior and there is lots of space inside to add sound
