‘A Tankful of Promises’
The colt was out of the Atoe mare, Navatoe Candina, and his sire, Charary Bound for Glory, Q-24282, had been shown in Halter and Western Performance classes from 1991 to 2007. But when Khris looked at the plain ewe-necked, upside down, brown roan colt she’d, she had no clue what she’d do with him. Registered as Promise of Glory Q-53508, Khris simply named him Tank. He needed to grow and fill out, so she turned him out with some geldings for the next two years. Khris considered selling him at a later date, but his kind and calm disposition prevailed.
‘By the time Tank was 2yo,’ Khris explains. ‘My work commitments offered me no time to break in a horse. I sent him off to trainer, Roy Marchinton, to start under saddle, along with my instructions to geld him if he became a handful. But Roy loved him, and said
