Salt-Away the Right Way!

Living in Hawai‘i, we are completely surrounded by salt water. Many of the activities we enjoy in and around the ocean, including deep-sea and shoreline fishing, require a range of tools or equipment that at some point get covered in salt water.

And we all know how the presence of salt can hasten corrosion and cause our equipment to deteriorate more quickly, shortening the lifespan of the things we care about. Did you know there is a product on the market, simply called Salt-Away, that is non-toxic, biodegradable, non-hazardous and kills salt? We spoke with Lenora Meister, current president and CEO of Salt-Away, about her singular family business that grew from a simple question and years of research and development. Salt-Away is now distributed throughout Hawai‘i, the mainland USA and in 29 other countries.

Lenora shared her pleasant, with intentions of launching it from some of the great marinas up and down the Southern California coast,” Lenora recalled. “Sometimes we took it out in Newport Bay at night when the moon was full and the water was quiet and still. We would take food and wine for the evening.”
