Even before becoming the first permanent foreign coach to lead the England women’s team last October, the international coaching credentials of the 52-year-old Sarina Petronella Wiegman-Glotzbach were formidable. In five years in charge of the Netherlands national women’s team, she won12 straight matches at major tournament finals, a sequence that was only ended by USA in the 2019 World Cup final, two years after sweeping to the Women’s Euros title on home soil.
