CUTTING OUT

Download, print and cut out the templates. There are three templates, which you flip over to create a mirror set. Each bag side has six sections, one from the original template set, and a second from the mirror set. From the interfacing cut: two using the template, flip over the paper template and cut a mirror pair two using the turned over template two using the template, flip over the paper template and cut a mirror pair two using the turned over template two using the template, flip over the paper template and cut a mirror pair two using the turned over template Work out which fabrics you want where with the patchwork. Our bag’s sides mirror each other, so the patchwork fabrics match at the side seams. Once you’ve decided on the fabrics press the interfacing onto the wrong side (WS) of the chosen fabric following manufacturer’s instructions and noting where the direction of fabric should be as per the templates. You need 1cm excess fabric outside of the interfacing for each patchwork section. This is the seam allowance. The order of fabric and patchwork we chose is listed below. Draw a 1cm seam allowance outside the interfacing shapes on fabric A then cut: one using template 1 one using template 1 mirrored one using template 3 one using template 3 mirrored Draw a 1cm seam allowance outside the interfacing shapes on fabric B then cut: two using template 2 two using template 2 mirrored Draw a 1cm seam allowance outside the interfacing shapes one using template 1 mirrored one using template 3 mirrored two 48x40cm, cut an 8cm square away from each bottom corner two 48x40cm, cut an 8cm square away from each bottom corner
