AN EXCELLENT WORKING EVENT IN SWITZERLAND

welcome new event in Switzerland at the end of May was Weiach Historik, which looks to become a fixture in the country’s calendar in years to come, reports It featured not only steam and motor rollers - including one by Thomas Green’s of Leeds and an example of a locally-built Amman type plus a Germanbuilt Hamm - but also many other types of plant and machinery in operation together with classic commercial vehicles, cranes and much much more. Working demonstrations were a major feature of the very well-attended show and included stone crushing by steam and tractor, vertical road ‘thumpers’, dumpers, loaders as well as a narrow gauge railway with ‘Vee’ skips using a small diesel loco for power.
