In a small space such as this, structure is essential and plants shouldn’t grow too wild. These are the two factors that Muriel Lutz had to keep in mind when she revamped her courtyard, which had just 10m² available for growing plants.
“I immediately knew what I wanted to do here to create a tranquil zone; this area has doors leading out onto it from the dining room, kitchen and guest room. When we moved in, the courtyard was paved from corner to corner. The only open ground was a small section around the star jasmine on one wall,” she says.
