Have you ever contemplated writing a book? You could write a huge volume about Dominant chords. Whether it’s due to their involvement in a rudimentary 12-bar blues, as the essential cog in generating perfect cadences, or as a key component in the production of advanced reharmonization techniques, dominant chords are the gift that keeps on giving. As I see it, they’re the heavyweight champions of the harmonic world!

Like tertian structures, these four-note chords are built from nothing more than stacked intervals of 3rds. Let’s explore them...
