Czech Mates

The Czech automotive industry has often been lost in the shadow of its German neighbor. However, Czech car production is one of the oldest in Europe. Škoda’s predecessor company, Laurin & Klement, started producing cars in 1905 while Tatra built its first car in 1897. During the 1920s and 1930s, Czech cars, Tatra in particular, were making great strides in technology. Today, Škoda is owned by Volkswagen and still produces vehicles. Tatra manufactures trucks and military vehicles.
