Sitting with my grandson Ben, then 12, I helped him with his homework.
‘Thanks, Grandma,’ he said.
‘You’re welcome. I’m always here for you,’ I replied, kissing the top of his head.
It was February 2021 and I’d been living with my daughter, Michelle, then 48, son-in-law Jay, 46, and their kids, Maddie, 14, and twins Ben and Alysha, 12, for almost 10 years.
