Quietly peeking around the bedroom door, I smiled to see my two young sons, fast asleep, curled up together in bed. Neel was Dev’s big bro, but Dev was the one who took the role of protector.
Just three days after Neel was born in September 2008, he’d been diagnosed with brain damage and epilepsy, due to a rare condition.
The doctors weren’t sure how long he’d live, what milestones he’d reach.
They told us he’d be deaf, blind, unable to speak.
So my husband and I lived each day as if it were Neel’s last.
