or the better part of a year, I have been a member of a group so wonderfully indulgent it’s a miracle that none of us have gout. It is called Lunch Club, an organisation dedicated to the long lunch established by the esteemed editor of this very publication and peopled by old-school bon vivants who always order every dessert on the menu and never say no to – another – bottle of wine. (New Zealanders, the lot of them.)
