SPARKLING WINES

97 House of Arras 2006 Late Disgorged Ed Carr (Tasmania). With 14 years on lees, this now 16-year-old wine, from one of the world’s most renowned sparkling regions and celebrated winemakers (Ed Carr), stands its own again the most premium of Champagne. Both opulent and vibrant, the flavors are so well integrated they’re hard to extract. Lemon curd mingles with wild mushroom, melted butter and brioche. Remarkably fresh with poise and flavor depth mounted in a frame of structure and texture that’s both mouthfilling and linear, with a finish that goes on and on. It’s classy as all hell.
