PETER HICKMAN TOOK THE LEAD EARLY IN THE race ahead of Davey Todd and Dean Harrison. By the time he reached Ballaugh, Hickman had stretched the lead to 3.1 seconds over Todd. Behind the lead duo, Harrison and Conor Cummins were doing their best to close the gap to the leaders. By the end of the first lap, Todd was overtaken by Harrison and Cummins. Hickman clocked an impressive 214.3-km/h first lap and stretched his lead to 9.3 seconds over Harrison.
Hickman arrived for his first pit stop with a 16.8-second lead over Harrison. Meanwhile, Cummins was out of the race and Dunlop moved into third place. By half race distance, Hickman had moved into second place on the road having blown past Dunlop at Windy Corner. Dunlop did the smart thing and stayed right on Hickman’s tail throughout the fourth lap and that helped
