BAVARIAN ADVENTURES

BMW’s twin-cylinder F 800 GS adventure bike first appeared in 2008. It racked up a decade of sterling service with adventure riders right around the world before eventually being replaced by the much updated F 850 GS in 2018.

During that ten-year period we’ve seen plenty of the mid-size Bavarian machines. We’ve ridden the bikes ourselves, we’ve ridden with plenty of them on group rides, and we’ve serviced plenty of them here in the workshop. In fact, we have some customers who have racked up 100,000km and more on them.

Overall, the F 800 GS has proven a capable and reliable adventure machine that has handled pretty much everything the typical Aussie ADV rider will throw at them. The 798cc parallel-twin engine delivered a healthy 63kw (85hp), is smooth running, and you could comfortably cruise all day at
