Jones applies the heat

THE MI-BIKE MOTORCYCLE Insurance Australian Superbike Championship returned to Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway over 17-19 June to be paired with the Supercars for the second year running, and Yamaha Racing Team rider Mike Jones seized control of the championship with two race wins and a second-place finish.

The weekend also saw Troy Herfoss (Penrite Honda Racing) exorcise the demons of 2021 with an emotional return to the podium, while fellow title protagonist Wayne Maxwell (Boost Mobile with K-Tech) kept the championship alive with a thrilling come-from-behind victory in Race 2.
