1 BEST FOR: NATURAL WONDERS WHITEROCKS BEACH, CAUSEWAY COAST
Why here? Big waves, high dunes and majestic limestone cliffs worn by the sea into a maze of spectacular rock formations come together to create one of the most stunning beaches on the Causeway Coast. Loved by the watersports enthusiasts, the gentle sloping shelf of beach, measuring up at around two miles from East Strand to Whiterocks, is ideal for canoeing and sea swimming – though prepare for the bracing sting of the North Atlantic water, whatever the season! The steep dune hills are a popular site for sledding and there are numerous caves and arches to discover together with magical headlands that rise from the sea such as Shelagh’s Head, the Wishing Arch, Elephant Rock and the Lion’s Paw.
Facilities: There’s free car parking, plus toilets, accessible toilets and showers. Lifeguard cover is provided in the summer.
