THE abuse happened mostly behind closed doors. She’d hide the signs the next day with sunglasses and makeup and tell no one – not even her parents.
“I covered it up, pretended it hadn’t happened,” Nicoleen Swart says. “Why? To protect him. Because each time he promised he’d never do it again.”
