‘I’M SORRY, I’M JUST SO SORRY’

SHE says the words softly. “I’m sorry. I’m just so sorry.”

Jolandi Venter is sitting in the principal’s office at the preprimary school in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng,softbluemakeup framing her sad eyes.

The 37-year-old has been a preschool teacher for 10 years. She loves and understands children and knows how to care for them, she says.

But a freak accident on the playground of the Athlone Junior Academy has turned her world upside down.

She’s never experienced anything like it, Jolandi says of the incident that left five-year-old Marno Muller fighting for his life.
