The relief of the news that my Olds was not a rust bucket held together with filler and string was overwhelming. Having owned the car for almost two decades, I felt I knew it and everyone who’d ever worked on it mechanically had been very complimentary, so it was a great vindication. The accident had spurred me on to do various other things on the car, such as having a replacement convertible top fitted, which had been sourced from Kee Auto Top () of Charlotte, North Carolina, which actually manufactures its tops on site to very exacting standards, rather than ship them in ‘cheap and cheerful’ from China, like a lot) for fitting later.
