The Curate of St James’s, Piccadilly, Rev Dr Mariama Ifode-Blease, paid tribute to Katharine Whitehorn, veteran columnist for the Spectator, the Observer, Punch and Saga, saying she had produced many wise aphorisms.
She quoted her book (1979): ‘Some achieve good cooking; some have cooking thrust upon them.’ She said the tone of her books was encouraging and ruthlessly perceptive.
