ASK RAY

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Q:I am 63 years old and semi-retired. One of the items on my bucket list was to rebuild a Chevy 350 engine, but the traditional small-block has fallen out of style, so I have set my sights on an LS engine instead. Here is my question: In your opinion, what is the best LS engine to rebuild and tune to meet my bucket list? I don’t want to go crazy with the build, maybe 450 hp. Can you also give me a ballpark cost figure, as well as what would be a good automatic transmission to use with it?

Thanks for your help.
