The Do’s and Don’ts of PROPERTY STOKVELS

I’ve come across property stokvels where it’s unclear what the business model is and how money is ultimately made. Before joining a stokvel, go through the business plan and ask questions about how money is made. If it doesn’t make sense, trust your gut and rather walk away from the opportunity.

Stokvels have been a huge part of how Abantu save. Many of our mothers, aunts and grandmothers were, and probably continue to be, part of some kind of stokvel, whether it is the(contributing towards a common goal) every month, or is for saving towards a particular goal. Abantu have been able to use stokvels to not just save, but also to create community.
