The future is in SAIC hands

MG Motor UK’s head office in Marylebone, London, could very easily pass for a nondescript office building, were it not for the small new car dealership that inhabits the ground floor reception area.

Inside Westar House are two top-secret areas; areas where MGs you haven’t seen yet are being conceived and developed, where the company’s focus is firmly on MG’s centenary year (though whether that’s 2023 or 2024 is a subject of debate both inside and outside the company) and where some of the upcoming new products will look squarely at the past for their inspiration.

We’ve already seen what this means with the Cyberster concept and, while there’s no ‘official’ line, it has been mooted by several senior people within MG Motor UK, MG Motor Europe and parent company SAIC’s international team that it is more than just a styling study.
