One dictionary definition of ‘abstract’ is ‘an art form that represents ideas (by means of geometric and other designs) instead of natural forms’. My own interpretation of abstraction is an experimental process that allows a painting to take a turn of its own, removing any trace of representational imagery. The piece will then evolve intuitively or as planned and form its own affinity with the viewer.

Conversely, my interpretation of representational art is to present the viewer with a recognisable subject that is depicted in a more abstract form than that of realistic representation or photo-realism. This method can prove to be very exhilarating, fun and playful, and can provide a fresh
