It would be reasonable to assume that my first memory of the 1960 and ’61 Dodges that served the Nebraska Safety Patrol would be from getting pulled over by one. After all, I was going to college in a town 400 miles across the state, and making the trip at least four or five times a year over highways characterized by wide open spaces and sparse traffic. That meant speeding was possible, if not inevitable.
