LOS ANGELES — DreamWorks Animation's "The Bad Guys" opens with what seems like a routine meet-up between best friends.
But Wolf and Snake are not just ordinary pals — they're part of a close-knit gang of notorious criminals about to rob a bank. The job quickly leads to a spectacular car chase throughout a version of Los Angeles unique to animation.
"That chase was there from the beginning," director Pierre Perifel said in a recent video call. "I wanted the movie to start like a rocket. [It's] calm, and then boom! Right away, you're in it and you understand the style, you understand the tone, you understand the genre.
