The sound of the frozen soil under my boots diverted my thoughts from the everyday world’s usual turmoil that captivates so many. As I took a deep breath of fresh, crisp mountain air and watched the sunrise, I quietly thought that just being out there in pristine nature was probably the most “real” place to be.
