Roberta Hall-McCarron

You might recognise this chef from your TV screen, but in-the-know foodies were fans of Roberta Hall-McCarron before she appeared on Great British Menu. As her star has climbed, her business, the Little Chartroom – which she runs with husband Shaun – has expanded. After running a food truck in Portobello during lockdown, the couple decided to evolve that casual dining experience into a second restaurant. That’s how Eleanore, their new venture in Leith’s Albert Place, came to be. “We wanted to open somewhere that was fun and really relaxed, where you can drop in for a quick bite to eat or come in and stay a while,” says Hall-McCarron.

The restaurant is bright and airy with a subtle nautical theme; Eleanore is named after one of her dad’s boats. Chefs Hamish McNeil and Moray Lamb head up the kitchen and have incorporated some of the food-truck favourites into the menu, such as hash
