Portugal has a diverse, rich culinary landscape which, together with its geographic location, makes it a paradise at the end of Western Europe. With the west of Portugal surrounded by sea it is not surprising that it has some of the best fish and seafood in the world. Think of the cataplana de mariscos, which is a traditional hermetic copper pot loaded with shelfish, veggies and rice from the sunny Algarve region.
