Gone are the days when fees were heavily subsidised for university and polytech courses – expect to pay around $5000 per year for a full-time university course.

Options for financial support

offer interest-free loans to cover fees, course costs and a living allowance. If you go overseas your loans stops being interest free unless you are doing post-graduate study, for example. The interest rate is set at the start of each tax year, 1 April. It is currently 3%.
