As a child, the thought to become a World Cup ski racer probably wasn’t as important as zooming down the bunny slopes and mastering the perfect ‘pizza’ shape with your skis.
Having fun was the number one agenda for any miniature skier, and was the one of the very first reasons why alpine ski racers Aruwin Salehhuddin and Jeffrey Webb chose to zip down steep, snow-covered downhills with nothing but a pair of goggles, a crash helmet and a skin-tight speed suit over their gear.
Although the speeds of which these alpine skiers can reach are dependent on the discipline they practice, they still go really fast. For downhill skiers, they can reach speeds from 80mph to even 100mph depending on the course, while those who compete in the giant slalom and the slalom event can still clock in from 40mph to 50mph. The average speed for a recreational skier? 20mph at most.
