Interest, movement, sound and colour

THE four elements mentioned in the headline are, I believe, exactly what people who install a pond in their garden are trying to achieve. The hollow, full of water and plants, provides the interest that guides the eye to the site. Then the movement, sound and colour can be provided by a waterfall, a fountain, or a variety of fish, not to mention other wildlife that is naturally attracted to ponds: frogs, toads, newts and wild birds. All this going on adds a package of wonder and interest for the owners and their families to observe at different times of the year, as the seasons progress.
