LOWDEN CALLING
Jack Lowden has grabbed hold of his laptop and is holding it aloft to show Total Film a glimpse of the art adorning his living room wall. There’s a vintage poster of Ryan’s Daughter taking pride of place. “It’s one of my favourite films,” he announces cheerfully. The Scottish actor has been calling London his home since last year after relocating from Leith, Edinburgh. Work demands meant that going back and forth didn’t make sense anymore. “It just wasn’t smart to do that.”
And making smart decisions is really what Lowden is all about, now that the 31-year-old has more freedom to pick and choose which direction his career can go. In his own words, he’s been “slowly burning away” in the worlds of theatre, TV and film, although that description doesn’t do justice to just how mercurial and charismatic he is on stage and screen.
