Multiple species, maximum action
FOR all Cage & Aviary Birds readers who have started early, I hope the season has begun with all the promise and hope of a great year. Like many others, the Kendall Stud began in mid-February and, as I write, we are fully in the thick of breeding. And to breed multiple types of birds across one stud can pose its own problems, in terms of creating the correct environment that each individual variety requires.
Our Fifes are well underway in the breeding cycle, with multiple hens now sitting and the first chicks hatching. Fifes are possibly the easiest of the birds we keep to get into condition; more so, as we’ve had them the longest and are very much in tune with their needs.
