When I was a kid in Invercargill, I had an after-school job delivering prescriptions for the local chemist, an old Scottish chap whose name I’ve misplaced. His wife – also old and Scottish – taught me how to carefully wrap the boxes and bottles of medicines, a skill I’m still grateful for every Christmas.
