THERE ISN’T a single human being alive on this planet who wouldn’t lay down their life in a fight over which celebrity with the surname Bruce is the greatest. Some might think it’s foul-mouthed US comic LENNY BRUCE, others may favour bass-twanging Cream rocker JACK BRUCE, while others still might prefer once-capped England B-Team footballer STEVE BRUCE. But let’s not kid ourselves – these are mere fringe Bruces. Everyone agrees that the Big Three when it comes to global Bruce-centric brilliance are BBC national treasure FIONA BRUCE, BBC national treasure KEN BRUCE and 13th Century Scottish national treasure ROBERT THE BRUCE. So, join us now and prepare to take sides in a Bruce-based battle to the death, as we figure out, once and for all…
FIONA
ROUND 1
SCOTTISHNESS
Born to an English mother and a Scottish father, fave Fiona seems destined to garner just half-marks in this opening round. But the Beeb bombshell’s Wikipedia page reveals the news fave’s apparent lack of regard for her Caledonian heritage. Born in Singapore, raised in England and educated in Paris, plummy-voiced Fiona’s sole connection to the Highlands appears to be a magazine, which is published by the Dundee-based comics firm, DC Thomson.
