METRICULOUS!

Pristine examples of classic cars are rarely found and fewer require no attention whatsoever. Even cars that have been dry-stored in a museum for several decades still need fettling on occasion and will inevitably require repairs when items such as rubber seals perish, for instance.

When Colin Brotton discovered this MG Metro at an independent car dealer, in February 2021, he was naturally amazed to find one but also to find an example with a mere 29,000 miles on the clock. The dealer had owned the car since 2006, having taken it in part exchange from the previous, and first, owner. During those 15 years of ownership, it had stood inside his showroom and the furthest it had gone was to his MOT testing station. Between 2010 and 2018, the Metro had not even been tested, possibly because there was no point in checking over a car that remained as a display piece.
