Summer grain outlook: better than expected?

The widespread rain in November and December caused considerable damage to summer grain crops. In a January 2022 survey conducted by Grain SA, summer grain producers said they believed that they had lost 60% of their white maize, 13% of their yellow maize and 17% of sunflower planted to date in the summer rainfall area.
