Racing headlong into 2022, we are now just eight years from the UK’s deadline for the end of the sale of petrol and diesel-powered cars. Add another five years for motorcycles. This may seem a long way off, but in design, engineering and production terms this is just around the corner. The gestation period for a new vehicle is something like seven years. In other words, the cars of 2030 need to be taking shape in the head of the designer now. It also seems likely that some manufacturers will
