All The Presidents’ ... Memorabilia

An interesting category of collecting is presidential and vice-presidential ephemera (items meant to be used for a brief time). Although this category isn’t my specialty, a lengthy career in aviation allowed me to collect several such items worth saving. My job, you see, gave me access to Air Force One and Air Force Two – the airplanes used for transporting the president and vice president of the United States.

For 36 years, I worked at a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) located at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida. An FBO is a company that services private jets; a place where pilots park their airplanes for cleaning, storage, fuel and catering prior to their next flights; a place where the rich and famous are seen daily as they travel in style from city to city.

Prior to retiring at the end of 2016, I was able to meet Fortune 500 CEOs, politicians, rock stars, movie stars, list a handful , I’ ll throw out the names of Warren Buffett ( world -class investor ), Steven Tyler (lead singer for Aerosmith), Dwayne Johnson (actor), Christie Brinkley (supermodel ) and Dan Marino (Miami Dolphins quarterback). I also got to meet several presidents and vice presidents of the United States from the Reagan Era onward, which is how I acquired a small collection of presidential and vice-presidential ephemera.
