EXPERT BUILD HACKS & SECRETS

BETTER LADDERS

Attaching ladders to walls is okay, but what if you want one standing free somewhere that doesn’t take up too much space? There’s a simple hack that involves placing ladders on the back of trapdoors.

Start by stacking the trapdoors on top of one another by using the sneak/crouch button while you place them (they should look like they’re floating). Now ‘open’ them so that they appear to form a tall thin board. Finally, go around the other side and attach the ladders to the back of the trapdoors and you’ll have a thin, unintrusive and freestanding ladder! Better yet, if you alternate the directions the trapdoors face, you can place ladders on both sides and it’ll be climbable from either. Don’t open or close the trapdoors, or the ladder will break!
