Evie gives her hair one last spruce of hairspray and tilts her chin back and forth in front of the mirror. She winces slightly as the sound of next door’s television thrums through her bedroom wall. If she’s not mistaken, her necklaces are quivering slightly on their jewellery stand – that’s how loud it is. She narrows her eyes, and then stops narrowing them, because it causes wrinkles.
She taps on the shared wall. Or perhaps pounds would be more accurate.
The television noise briefly stops.
SOMETHING WILL HAVE TO BE DONE ABOUT RONNIE
‘What?’ roars Ronnie through the wall.
‘I can hear your television!’ Evie shouts.
‘Oh. Want to come round and watch?’ Ronnie shouts back.
‘What?’ Evie recoils
