Tell us a bit about discovering your love for food…

My childhood growing up on the islands was all about being outdoors, picking fruit off the trees and walking on the reef. Food was always around me and I was learning from the oldies how to make cultural dishes. I guess, for me, becoming a chef was always the end goal. Training to be a chef was hard but it was worth it. I’m a feeder; I love sharing and eating food with family and friends.

Can you share a bit about the history of the Meriam people’s style of cooking?
