After a hectic and social Christmas, it was time for an escape, and a good opportunity to scope out Tora, near the southern end of the North Island’s East Coast, as a possible future one-night camping destination.

Things got off to a slightly unexpected start when Ashley advised that access to our normal meeting place in Featherston was blocked by police and fire trucks dealing with a vehicle that had run off the road and taken out a shop veranda.
