KAPITI COAST TO Mountain Trails

After fighting the traffic out of Wellington this particular Saturday morning, our first destination was the settlement of Tangimoana on the southern side of the mouth of the Rangitikei River.

Just past this very pleasant-looking settlement the road took us through some sand dunes, deteriorating into a sandy track down onto the beach. The fine weather had brought out hordes of trail bikes, quads and 4WDs, so we headed a few kilometres down the beach to get some peace while we enjoyed lunch, entertained by a few people
