Now a global phenomenon, The Sims was almost abandoned numerous times during development. Then, at the 1999 Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3), a videogame conference held in Los Angeles, California, two digital females leaned in for a passionate make-out session in front of a live audience. People were shocked – and probably quite titillated. Naturally, this resulted in the game becoming a huge success.
