ental health has always been of great concern in the LGBTQ+ community and many of our members have suffered terribly from the isolation of often draconian lockdowns. Depression and suicide rates have gone up. As a coping mechanism, a great many have turned their homes into oases of green and have found solace in becoming plant parents. We care for ourselves by caring for plants. Having something to take care of makes us feel useful and not all of us have lovers or family, or even animal companions.
